.NET and C#
.NET greatly facilitates the development and deployment of both Web services and Internet enabled rich client applications. Since mid-2001, EC Wise has been building Windows and Web applications with C#, the language Microsoft introduced specifically to take the best advantage of the .NET platform. We have worked with our clients to:
- Train and retool their development teams for .NET
- Identify and adopt best practices for agile development in .NET
- Design effective .NET based architectures
- Optimize .NET applications for database access
- Develop technical strategies for integrating COM and .DLL based components into .NET systems
- Design and build Web services
- Develop and manage complete .NET projects from requirements to production
We chose .NET for a variety of reasons including its support for a Common Language Runtime, integration with Web services, component versioning, and automatic memory management. C# provides a clean transition path for our clients, whether their prior focus was on Java, C++, or Visual Basic. It offers a number of improvements, combining the best of these languages without a steep learning curve. Our developers have Microsoft technical certifications in C#, .NET, and SQL Server. We come to C# from a very strong fundamental Windows programming background, having worked for many years in Visual C++ and Visual Basic. When applications require extreme performance or hardware connectivity, we can produce software components in C++, and integrate them very cleanly with our C# code using the .NET extensibility framework.

We are Java Experts
Our earliest projects were Java projects. We chose Java as a strategic platform because it represented the cleanest and most accessible object oriented language that was gaining widespread popularity. In 1998, EC Wise designed and produced a UI framework for rapid development and runtime generation of web user interfaces in Java, including support for custom layouts and rules with XML declarative specifications, multiple browser compatibility, and internationalization. Captura Software licensed our Java framework and built their global expense reimbursement system on it. Subsequently, we carried out a series of rapid prototyping and usability validation projects in Java, using JavaBeans, servlets, JSP, and Enterprise Javabeans. While providing these services, we were building the first version of our internal requirments and design management and validation system on this framework.
